Taj ul Masajid, Bhopal

#4 of 14 in Historic Sites in Bhopal
Religious Site · Tourist Spot
Visit one of the most distinguished mosques in the world and India at Taj ul Masajid. Named as a crown of the mosques, its Mughal architecture and enormous size contribute to its fame. Constructed as an attempt to be the largest mosque in the world in the year 1877, it wasn’t finished until 1971. See the pink frontage and the towering terracotta walls which fortify the shining white domes of the building, as well as the paved marble floors and intricately detailed interior. The mosque also serves as a ‘madarsa’, an Islamic school. Do not come on Fridays if you are non-Muslim.
