  • Elefriend is a kind of nature reserve of elephants (there are several in Jaipur). In this there are 63 protected elephants and throughout the city of Jaipur 158, all females. Kabeer, the kind manager of Elefriend speaks several languages including Spanish, explained a lot about the life of these fantastic animals, their eating habits, their tastes... Etc. Elephants are sacred in India by the god Ganesha, the elephant-headed god son of the god Shiva and the goddess Parvati The elephants we were with were called Rami, 32, and 29-year-old Shampa, who was rescued from a circus in 2002. We loved meeting them, they were adorable. To meet someone and get confident they have to smell you first, after that, they will never forget your smell. Each elephant has an assigned mahaut (elephant keeper) who takes care of its care throughout its life. When we arrived, Kabeer told us a little bit about what the activity was about and then told us about these animals. Elephants need to eat for 14-18 hours a day (herbs, bamboo or fodder and bananas) and drink up to 100 litres of fresh water, so we've been feeding them. Then we painted them with non-toxic natural paints, we took a walk of approx 40 minutes with them as they have to walk several kilometers a day to do the digestion and in the end we bathe them. It was a lot of fun!!!. We were three people and we booked online. The price is a little high to us cost us 3250 rupees per person about 40 euros + the tip you give to the caretakers of the elephants, we stay3 hours. However the activity is unforgettable and wonderful and worth it, the elephants are well taken care of and we did not see any kind of abuse. 100% Recommended.
