To do preferably during the week to attend the use of looms because it is a national training center for people wishing to embark or to improve in this activity. A guide followed us during our visit to introduce ourselves and give us some explanation on each room. This is included in the price, but at the end a tip is expected and above all: you have to fill the appraisal book under the Eyes of the guide:-) On the other hand, disappointed by the low-engaging shop (Soviet atmosphere) but mostly proposing little diversity of objects compared to what is exposed in the museum and particularly few small objects.
The International Coir Museum is established for showcasing the coir industry over the ages with the latest developments which has brought in a revolution. The museum also show cases the traditional processes and development of coir industry, including retting and fibre extraction, advent of mechanization in coir sector etc. A short video film takes the visitors through the world of coir over the ages and gives information on the origin and growth of the industry and the latest developments made through research and development. This will give sweet memories on coir industry. There is a souvenir shop attached to the Museum where visitors can have the joy of SHOPPING a wide range of coir handicrafts, coir doormats, coir ornaments etc.
Must visit. Got to know the importance of coir. The lady guide guided me throughout the museum. It is surely one of the best museums in India. Unique and specific.
