Leave behind the comforts of civilization at Hverir, where the power of nature rules. Few countries compare to Iceland when it comes to volcanic activity, and this field of fumaroles and hot springs is a prime example. Experience the relentless undrground energy, visible in the columns of steam, boiling water, and bubbling mud pots. No plants or animals can survive in this highly acidic environment, but you will see an abundance of colorful minerals. Walk up to the vents and pools, taking care to stay safe. Wear comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting muddy. Note that the steam and smell of sulfur might be uncomfortable for some. A beautiful place to take a small wall and admire the beautiful volcanic landscape of Iceland. The geothermal vents produce some of the most interesting landscapes. They smell heavily of sulfur and methane so it's not a pleasant smell at all, but that is expected. It's worth pulling over and seeing this once in a lifetime experience.
Fascinating place. Beautiful but also disgusting cause of the smell and the sticky mud. I highly recommend you to put plastic bags over your shoes when walking there. Absolutely worth a visit.
