Cascada menos conocida que su hermana-vecina Seljalandsfoss, pero que llama la atención por encontrarse dentro de lo que parece una cueva, realmente se encuentra en un cavidad que queda entre las roca... more »Waterfall less known than its sister-neighbor Seljalandsfoss, but which attracts attention to find itself inside what looks like a cave, is actually located in a cavity that remains between the rocks. It is close to Seljalandsfoss, about 800 m by a well-marked path (about 10 minutes). You enter from a gap between the rocks where the water comes out of the waterfall, but it is not difficult to enter using the stones that have been placed so as not to have to get into the water. Therefore you have to go properly shoes and dress, because once inside not get wet is impossible by the very haze that creates the waterfall when falling and that is everywhere, and also the space is small. You can stay in a short time, as there is usually a queue to enter the cavity. Access: It is accessed by the same road that leads to Seljalandsfoss, a paved road to the parking, then there is 15 minutes walking to the cavity by a completely flat road. Estimated visit time: 10 minutes Entrance fee: you pay for the parking of Seljalandsfoss, about 700 kronor. Reservation: not necessary. Clothing: Warm clothing in case it is cold, waterproof in case it rains (forget the umbrella, with the wind will not be of any use) and footwear suitable for crossings (you will avoid slips and make the water warm if it rains). Bathrooms: if in the parking area of Seljalandsfoss Coffee/Restaurant: there is a kiosk in the parking area of Seljalandsfoss
Go here. Bring your waterproof clothes, you will get soaked. Walking inside highly recommended, the cave around the bottom of the waterfall is otherworldly.
After following the signs to the water fall you will have a very limited view. However, if you follow the water upstream, climbing over the rocks in the water underneath a rocky overhang, you will be treated to a beautiful up close view of the fall, with the sun illuminating the water from above.
