The Anna Cave is a natural limestone cave in Miskolc-Lillafüred, Hungary, near the waterfall.
The cave was discovered in 1833, when opening a shaft in the limestone in order to provide the iron furnace at Hámor with water. It soon became a tourist attraction, even Sándor Petőfi visited it in 1847. However, in the second part of the century, when the iron furnaces were closed, the cave was forgotten.
It was opened again in 1912. In 1927, when the Palace Hotel was built, new caverns were found. The entrance that's used today was constructed then.
The cave has not only nice limestone structures, but also plant fossils.
The cave can be visited all year round.

    This is more or less an unique place in Europe with this wonderfoul limestone creations. If You don't speak hungarian, please ask via internet vs. english guide ?  more »

    An other must see attraction if you are visiting Lillafüred. There is a guided tour in every hour. (10.30, than 11.30 etc) A small jacket is recommended because of the cool temperature...  more »

    A great cave! At last not a cave only full of stalagmites and stalagtites! The cave itself is full of small tunnels and interesting rooms. The entrance is easy to reach and has a lovely view, it is near to the palace and its garden. I wish the tour was longer.

    Very nice tour, about 20 minutes long. Mostly in Hungarian with short summaries in English. Not so cold but very stuffy.
