Museum Speelklok displays a collection of self-playing musical instruments, such as music boxes, musical clocks, pianolas, and turret clocks. Here, you'll also see several of the quintessentially Dutch large street organs, or barrel organs. Opened in 1958 following a highly successful exhibit called "From Musical Box to Street Organ," the museum has developed a collection of automatic mechanical instruments recognized worldwide. Join the guided tour to learn more about the history of each instrument. On the tour, you'll also have the chance to interact with the items on display. • Make sure you take the guided tour when visiting this place. You'll be able to hear the instruments and it was great learning a bit about the various exhibits. We loved this museum since it was so uni...  more »
  • Because one of our company has a special interest in old clocks we had requested a private guided tour. The guide that vastly knew about FF clocks with play work deserves a separate mention. She told me enthusiastically about everything she showed and was an added value for our museum visit! This museum is a must for young and old. You're really going to look at rotating organs with different eyes when you've been here!

  • Museum Speelklok is a very vibrant and fun museum for both kids and adults! It is located a the very heart of beautiful Utrecht, so  while enjoying the lively center you can enjoy the historic pieces of automatic music boxes which do not sound like automated at all! You can find very tiny music boxes as well as huge ones that need their own special rooms! I suggest you attend the tour while there, so that you can hear most of them and learn about their mechanism. Also, you can find a do-it-yourself room upstairs, where you can make your own music box. Great for families!
  • Cute museum! Recommend to visit with guided tour, the guide will introduce different music clock and how they work. The most fun part is that the guide will play a giant music clock which is as big as the whole wall, it was the life long experience you will never have in other places.
