Walk among apes and monkeys in a natural forest environment at Apenheul. Opened in 1971, the zoo was the first in the world to house primates in open environments where visitors could interact with them. Now home to more than 30 different primates, including bonobos, gorillas, and orangutans, the facility promotes conservation, as well as love and understanding of primates. Grab a front row seat at a feeding session. The knowledgeable staff member running the show will answer any questions. If you're lucky, a curious monkey might climb on you. Prachtig park. Er is veel te zien. Je kunt hier echt een hele dag rondkijken. Voor kinderen her en der speeltuintjes. Dat de aapjes ook vrij lopen maakt het extra leuk. more »Beautiful Park. There is a lot to see. You can really look around for a whole day. Children's playgrounds. That the monkeys also run freely makes it extra fun.
Erg leuk park en met voorlichting van de medewerkers die overal te vinden zijn. Redelijke horeca die voldoende aanwezig is. Parkeren is ook goed geregeld. more »Very nice park and with information of the staff who can be found everywhere. Reasonable catering facilities. Parking is also well arranged.
I go to a lot of zoos, and I think this has by far the best primate enclosures I've seen. The animals have so much space and are clearly well cared for. There's a huge amount to see, with the orangutans being a personal favourite. Worth the entry cost. Tip: much better on a sunny day as the animals will be free roaming.
A great zoo, dedicated mostly to monkeys. It's easy to spend there the whole day and you will want to come again. There are no cages. Just open air. Many apes species just walk among visitors. You can see them very close. There is a lot of information about monkeys, so you can enjoy and learn at the same time. Please don't feed and don't touch animals! The beauty of this place, that they can live there on their own, and you can observe them almost without any limits.
