  • Guides were knowledgeable and professional. Xela to Atitlán hike was a great way to spend three days and meet some cool people. Amazing views and experience. Would highly recommend to anyone with the ...  more »
  • I signed up for the Tajumulco expedition of Quetzaltrekkers at the last hour, without planning it. It was the biggest physical challenge I've ever faced, although then I had fun too. I nearly gave up, but Maeve convinced me to move on even though I was panting and bathed in sweat. I'd never been camping on a dump. The sunrise at the summit was magical; there were floral offerings everywhere, a spectacular view of the Tacan a side of the Mexican side, and the first perfect triangular shadow I've ever seen in my life (the one of the same flip we ascended). The guides are very professional. Thank you also to Will and Molly for their patience, and for having endured my bad mood and frustration for carrying my overweight backpack. No matter that they are not in their best physical form, Quetzaltrekkers will propel them to the summit!

  • I did two hikes with them, a great company. Impressive with the guides I had up Santa Maria and the hike to Lake Atitlan. One of the gides i had for both was Julian who took two full bags of plastic off of Santa Maria. That's rock star status to me.
  • good company. they aren't the most organized but it is reasonable to expect from a nonprofit. make sure to get your gear you will need and consider bringing extra snacks. they sometimes forget their gear.
