  • An experience that will leave you speechless. The best way to get there is by speedboat from Sayaxché. After an hour's boat ride along the magnificent Passion River, the detour through the crystal clear waters of the Pucté stream takes you on a half-hour tour observing eagles, turtles, howler monkeys and all kinds of waterfowl. At all times you can see the bottom of the river and the aquatic flora that covers it. One of its births is the blue crater, with waters of incredible transparency and with the background covered with vegetation. You can swim, but it is a very fragile place, so you have to go very carefully so as not to damage the ecosystem and that can continue to enjoy for many generations. It is important to bring food and drink for the journey and protect yourself from the sun properly, since between the boat tour and the time in the crater, they take at least 4 to 5 hours. A full tour can be booked through the tourism companies of Flores airport

  • You don't have to die before knowing this gorgeous place
  • This is a magical place. Completely isolated from the world. Water is pure crystal and fish swing along with you. You can do snorkeling. I went with my wife in mid July, so there weren't any other tourists so we had the river for ourselves. Peaceful beautiful place. We took a minibus 45Q for both from Santa Elena to Sayaxché. Once there we crossed the river as everyone does to stay in a hotel in twon. The next morning we hired the boat for 700Q and after 1.5 hours we got to our destination. I highly recommend Crater Azul.
