Sandy Island, Carriacou Island

#2 of 12 in Beaches in Grenada
Explore the marine and avian life at Sandy Island, a calm, secluded enclave of white sand fringed by coconut trees. After Hurricane Ivan demolished the island in 2004, Grenada designated it a nature reserve. Bring snorkeling gear to explore the underwater world, or binoculars to do some bird-watching on land. The island, accessible by water taxi, makes a perfect escape from the usual crowded spots, its long stretch of beach giving a sense of peaceful seclusion. Facilities on site include restrooms, but you should plan to bring your own food and drink.
