Hop on a ferry to see Archaeological Site of Delos, the birthplace of twins Apollo and Athena--the god of light and the goddess of wisdom. The entire island is uninhabited and serves as an archaeological site, so explore at your leisure. Climb to the top of the highest hill for a panoramic view of the surrounding sea and nearby islands. Take photographs of the famous stone lions that grace the road leading to the three temples of Apollo, and at the museum view some of the artifacts discovered in what is now a World Heritage Site. Consider hiring a guide in advance to help you understand what you are seeing. Shade is limited, and the cafe on the island is pricey, so bring a hat, sunscreen, water, and snacks. Breathtaking viewpoints. Allow at least 3h. 4 good hours in our case. The works of the Museum are beautiful. Explanations in English on the whole site and in French in the Museum only. The site plan deserves to be reworked with big upside-down PBS/place. The houses of the guardians and the Museum do tasks in this historical context. The considerations were different at the time of their construction. Really a beautiful discovery that could surely have been richer with a guide... even at €50...

Really awesome place! You get to walk the streets and walk through their big mansions of the time. Most of the places are open to walk through and see with limited reduced access locations You can take a cheap ferry here but you will not have any of the rich knowledge the tour guides can provide
Very impressive site, from the water's edge, right up the surrounding mountains. There are a lot of Cat guides, who take their duties very seriously & don't seem to want any reward apart from a few strokes. The site is currently much enhanced by Gormley installations at strategic points.
