Built on the side of hills sloping down to a beach along the Aegean Sea, Assos features traditional stucco houses and narrow streets that are populated by only 100 permanent inhabitants. Some of the locals operate small taverns, offering hearty meals with views over the sea. The walk up to the Venetian castle ruins rewards you with the best view in the village and is accompanied by the scent of olive trees.
