According to legend, Cave Of Zeus is one of two possible locations where Zeus, Greek god of sky and thunder, was born. High up on Mount Dicte, the system of caves have a single entrance, which you can reach via a long trek to the top or driving the winding roads up. Inside, admire the large stalactites and stalagmites that have formed over hundreds of years. The antechamber contains the crumbled foundations of an altar and evidence of offerings that were burnt at the altar and destined for the gods. Explore the five chambers, especially the small chamber behind a lake where Zeus was supposedly born.
