Owned by the same family who began its construction nearly 850 years ago, Burg Eltz is one of the best-preserved castles in Germany. The ornate, fairy tale-like fortress sits atop a 70 m (230 ft) rock outcropping. It's built of imposing stone walls and topped with colorful, spire-like roofs. You can explore more than 100 different rooms and courtyards, including the family quarters still used today. Climb to the other sections of the structure to see sweeping views of the forested hills and river valleys. Check the website for special events and guided tours. From parking lot there are two ways to get to the castle either by adding the feeder bus for two euros per person via the steep asphalted road in two minutes or in 15 minutes through the beautiful forest path which runs slightly and lies beautifully in the shade.

Remember that this is a private property but it must be visited. French speaking guides, this is worth a good point. On the other hand, no documentation in language other than German. Conclusion: this is the kind of visit where you have to program at least half a day if you want to declare that it is exceptional!
Beautiful castle with a beautiful view. There's a bit of a hike if you're not taking the shuttle, so you should dress comfortably.
Such a beautiful castle! If you can take the tour, I definitely would, it’s a fast and interesting tour that helps you learn why the castle was built. It’s even prettier up close and inside than what the pictures show. To this day it’s still the prettiest castle I’ve visited.
