Schloss Petzow, Werder upon Havel

#27 of 67 in Historic Sites in Brandenburg
Historic Site · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Windswept meadows, old-fashioned lampposts, yachts, and a dark, glistening lake set the scene at Schloss Petzow, a romantic park. Overlooking the park is a 19th-century castle built in 1825 by chief Prussian architect Karl-Friedrich Schinkel in a mix of Italian and English Tudor architectural styles. The surrounding park was expertly devised and landscaped in harmony by Peter-Joseph Lenné. You'll also find a church on site, with a tower dating from 1842. In touring the park you will encounter many other remnants of the formerly independent village of Petrow. Explore the park on foot or by bicycle.
