Bauhaus-Museum Weimar is home to many examples of work by students and teachers of the Bauhaus school. Started in 1919 by Walter Gropius, the Bauhaus style was employed by such artists as Lyonel Feininger, Johannes Itten, Wassily Kandinsky, and Paul Klee. You can see many original works from the school, including paintings, furniture, drawings, and prints. Though some of the furniture may look rather commonplace, the pieces were creative and innovative when they were conceived--and now have become fully integrated into mainstream style. • Nice new building, exhibit somewhat disappointing as not really clearly structured and to see an overarching theme. Still gives some idea on Bauhaus.  more »
  • If you only are going for one museum you should pick Neues Museum. In sone way I did not found Bauhaus Museum attractive. There is a café with good coffee but very slow service.  more »

  • Theater part of the exhibition is the best. Interesting insight in the school culture of early Bauhaus. Museum shop is absurdly expensive
  • History of Bauhaus is about art, craft and architecture. Three levels of displays about the philosophy, style, development history and expression in buildings, furniture and living. They should be the best about Bauhaus in the world.
