See sculptures dating from the Archaic age (650 BCE) to the Roman era (550 CE) when you tour Glyptothek. Originally built for Bavarian King Ludwig I to hold his collection of Greek and Roman sculptures, this museum now holds famous sculptures from a wide range of periods. From the Archaic period, you can see the Munich Kouros and the Kouros of Tenea. From the Classical period, view the portrait of Homer and Statue of Diomedes. The Barberini Faun represents the Hellenistic period, while the bust of Emperor Augustus is from the Roman period. The museum includes a cafe.   • It is worth to start exploring. Excellent Museum of ancient art. A collection of Egyptian, Greek and Roman art. There is Apollo from Tenei and Faun Berberini, busts of emperors, mosaics and sarcophagi. The museum is not large.

  • Very few details in English. If you weren’t an archaeologist, you wouldn’t know what was going on. However the collection is exceptional. Also it is 1€ for cloaking.
