Frauenkirche, Munich

4.1
The enormous, 15th-century Frauenkirche can hold about 20,000 people. It stands as a symbol of Bavaria's capital city and features a rich collection of artwork from the 14th to 18th centuries. In the nave, you'll find Gothic stained-glass windows and the tomb monument of Holy Roman Emperor Louis IV. Be sure to look for the curious black mark resembling a footprint near the church entrance. This "devil's footprint" survived World War II bombing. You can ask locals about the legends surrounding it. For views of Munich and the Alps, you can climb up the church's 99 m (325 ft) south tower. • It stands out because of its high altitude and is quite simple. It is in the center very close to Marienplatz. Legend has it that the footprint is the devil's tread. You can see the mausoleum of the emperor of Bavaria. In the crypt there is a chapel and several tombs of archbishops.

  • Once again the Gothic presence in the church architecture of Germany, and once again very imposing with huge towers and long windows. It can be easily included in a tour of the main historical points, which I recommend doing with a guide to know the peculiarities of the historical events, which are many, and local people's view on culture and beliefs.
  • A spectacular, breathtaking and peaceful event-building-experience-moment in time! You can walk inside or around the perimeter and each step will bring calm to your inner being. The sheer staying power of this structure and basic messages of the architecture will deliver a message to you, no matter what beliefs you hold. A place to marvel at art, architecture and humanity! 🙂
