Formerly a summer resort, Christian boarding school, Nazi elite school, and eventually training center for the German Rail Regional Office, Schloss Drachenburg was constructed in just two years, between 1882 and 1884. Built as a private castle-like villa for a rich businessman, he never ended up living here. The mansion is now owned by the State Foundation and open to the public. Visit the interior to see ornate decor and paintings--and for views of the river below. Hike up from the town below, take a historic train ride up, or for children, even ride a donkey. It looks nice, but it misses the 'magic' of the story behind it. -------- Its a new castle so it has no history. Still it looked nice and maybe its awesome if its your first castle. But we went there after a few other castles with a nice history.
Just love it!! Super beautiful palace!! Nice train to get there try its fairytale place!!! Staff are nice and friendly too! Even the gardener help tourists to find the way !! A must go !! Don’t miss the roof, problem is just no wheelchair or people with knee pain can get up there , too many stairs. But super nice view!!
