Alpspitz, Garmisch-Partenkirchen

4.7
#2 of 51 in Winter Sports in Germany
Reaching 2,628 m (8,622 ft) at its peak, Alpspitz is famous for its pyramid-shaped summit and jagged crags. Hiking here is not for the timid; many of the routes are for more advanced mountaineers or experienced climbers, as the ascents are often steep and rocky--however, you can find a few paths appropriate for the whole family. Consider trying mountain biking, paragliding, or even sliding down the mountain on a 1,000 m (328 ft) long slide. The Alpspitzbahn offers a ride up for those who don’t wish to conquer the mountain on foot. Our Garmisch-Partenkirchen itinerary app makes visiting Alpspitz and other Garmisch-Partenkirchen attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Great view from the Alpspix, then on to the Kreuzeckbahn mountain station (about 1.5 hours via the "enjoyment" path, if you walk relatively fast without stopping at the stations). Beautiful tour with always beautiful views. With the Garmisch Classic ticket you can book the mountain and descent combined for 28 euros, only mountain or descent costs 17.50 euros. Each adult person. Is also O.K. you will even receive a drinks box worth 1.50 euros for the Kandahar 2 bar.

  • From GAP up to the Kreuzeck House (if you want to spare yourself some boring mountain hill, you can do this part with the mountain railway), possibly stay there, from there via the Schönges to the Alpspitze, from there then to the Höllental Valley hut (possibly overnight), if possible and who And return to GAP through the Hellental clam.

  • The cable car ride to the top of Alpspitze is a breathtaking experience. The view from the top is beautiful. The area at the base of the mountain is also very scenic and can be explored by bike or the charming cogwheel train.
