    Don't let the outside fool you, this is a beautiful church. Very ornate on the inside. Definitely worth a visit. It's right down the street from the bigger or more well known Fulda Cathedral. Why....  more »

    While the church appears somewhat austere, it reflects a very unique and transitional style in Germany. As with the late baroque cathedral, the construction of St. Blasius took place at the end of the 18th century, but rather than a complete embrace of classicism, the church synthesizes both styles, both in an incomplete manner. The stucco work on the ceiling and elsewhere reflects the style of the previous century, while the austerity ornamentation of the walls shows the emergence of a new classicism.
