Haus der Wannsee-Konferenz, Berlin

4.6
The site of the infamous Nazi Wannsee Conference, Haus der Wannsee-Konferenz was reopened as a Holocaust museum in 1992, after having first served as a school. Historian Joseph Wulf recommended that the site be converted into a Holocaust museum and memorial in 1965, but the German government claimed there was a lack of funding. Today, the permanent exhibits of photographs, documents planning the Holocaust, texts, and films remind visitors of the immense tragedy and explain how it happened. • In the villa where the decision was made of the "destruction" of the Jews (WO-II) is now a (free) museum decorated to commemorate this black page of German history. The minutes have been preserved. Hitler was not present at this conference. The Memorial Centre also offers an extensive documentation centre.

  • Somewhat of a somber place yet relevant. Found this to very educational and extremely interesting. The grounds are marvellous and very pleasant indeed.
  • Great museum. Very educational. Such a peaceful and lovely location. Definitely worth a visit. Probably real good for class projects of some sort.
