  • While the museum has seen better days, the exhibition itself is extremely interesting and the staff is very helpful and happily described everything in great detail (the better if you know Georgian or...  more »
  • It is a museum which uses the building of the main building of the old sericulture experiment station that the Russian Empire set up to run the Caucasus region. The building of the test ground had been largely removed (the soccer stadium next door was also the site of the test ground), but it was the only laboratory where the building on the other side of the road remained on the left hand side. The museum stored and exhibited research materials that had been collected since the establishment of the laboratory at the end of the 1st century. On the day of the tour, we were able to visit the back yard in favor of the museum, and we were interested in seeing the specimen cases that organized the "cocoon-knitting moths" and "cocoons" collected from all over the world. It is undeniable that facilities and materials are degraded due to a lack of budget, but I think the valuable cultural resources that have been protected for hundreds of decades are worth seeing.

  • An absolute gem, if you've got a an inquisitive, introspective personality. The museum was empty when I arrived and I thoroughly enjoyed having the whole place to myself, simply because the building and dioramas transport you back to an earlier time. Added bonus if you're actually interested in silk, textiles, and seashells.
  • I can absolutely recommend this museum. It's more interesting than you actually expect it to be. There was also a museum for shellfish. The house itself is worth a visit. Nice old architecture. Kind staff, moderate prices for tickets. I'll come again with friends.
