Established in 1968, this popular tourist destination covers 107 hectares (264 acres), its landscapes ranging from savannahs to evergreen forests. In addition to over 270 bird species, the protected area shelters monkeys, antelopes, squirrels, monitor lizards, porcupines, and cane rats. Myself and my partner enjoy nature reserves and also sighting animals and so we believed that this would be the perfect place to visit. We got a taxi there and the taxi driver would wait 2 hours... more »

A beautiful park, the fact is that there are animals in cages but they are animals that were saved from illegal breeders. more »

It’s a pretty impressive place, still a shadow of what it used to be. It has monkeys, crocs, hyenas, snakes etc. A perfect place for birdwatchers and for an afternoon with family. The footpaths are beautiful and impressive art is sold around the hyena cages.

It was fun while at the reserve. They have a tour guard and the Gambian Police had a station close by and offer you their binoculars for 100 dalasi. The reserve has a rich history but doesn't have a lot of wildlife. It was fun seeing the monkeys play in their natural habitat and jumping over a pool filled with crocodiles. Seeing the hyenas also was fun. I heard their is MOU that another reserve will bring some of its wildlife to the reserve. If this happens then it will be great.
