Parc du Domaine de Madame Elisabeth, Versailles

#3 of 7 in Parks in Versailles
Park · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
Louis XVI bought Parc du Domaine de Madame Elisabeth for his younger sister, Elizabeth, in 1783, as a place where she and others could take a break from life at court. But that ended in 1789 with the French Revolution. Renovated several times over the years, the site now consists of a rectangular main building with two floors flanked by two pavilions. Of the original house, only three rooms in the apartment of Madame Elizabeth remain intact--ironically, rooms she never used because she slept every night at the castle. On the grounds, you will find an orangery as well as some magnificent gardens. To visit Parc du Domaine de Madame Elisabeth and other attractions in Versailles, use our Versailles trip maker.
