Filitosa is a megalithic site from the end of the Neolithic era and the beginning of the Bronze Age until around Roman times. Arrowheads and pottery date back to the earliest inhabitants of 3300 BCE. The 2-3 m (6-10 ft) menhirs (standing stones) date back to 1500 BCE and are carved with the likeliness of human faces, armor, and weapons. A trek through an ancient olive grove brings you to a rock overhang with a surrounding wall. There you'll see the central monument with hut platforms, and further down the trail, you'll reach the Western Monument or torri. Downhill from there, you can see the five megaliths circling a 2,000-year-old olive tree. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Sollacaro holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Filitosa and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

The family rate is decent 28 euros for 2 adults and 2 children The view is beautiful and the site is full of little treasures for the eyes... Be careful in the middle of summer it must be very hot! Large parking nearby but difficult to park in having a 4/4!
Nous sommes arrivé au moment de la visite guidé, dont vous avons peu bénéficier du coup ! Là les 9€ valent le coup, car la guide Masha, très agréable, nous a expliqué et conte l histoire de Filitosa !... more »We arrived at the time of the guided tour, which you have little benefit from! There the 9 degrees are worth it, because the guide Masha, very nice, explained to us and tells the story of Filitosa! L Olivier is beautiful! And the village of craftsmen to see! On the other hand if you make the visit without the guide I think that really, we are missing something and especially the explanations of why there are no more originals and that we will be able to see them in the museum that will open its doors soon!
