Grottes de Betharram features five stories of caves that you can access by foot, boat, or train. Discovered in 1810, this was one of the first grottos open to the public and later was the first to use electric illumination. Travel along a 2.8 km (1.7 mi) route to see the whole cavern. If you leave the grottos by boat, you'll float into the river Gave de Pau.   • My kids are particularly interested in trains so had to visit this cave just to experience the underground boat and train ride. The train is actually based on a rollercoaster and the boat moves along....  more »
