Les Rochers Sculptes, Saint-Malo

#5 of 12 in Historic Sites in Saint-Malo
Historic Site · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Over 300 figures of Les Rochers Sculptes were made by the late Abbot Fouré who was deaf and mute. Carved from marble with only a chisel and a hammer, his bas-relief faces feature legends from the sea, the pirates, and the current events of his time. Figures carved into seaside stone are considered art brut in the environmental visionary type of presentation.
