  • This place is all about drawings, the caves themselves being fairly unexceptional. Add a little electric train journey and you have a great family outing. The cave is cool so would be brilliant on.....  more »
  • We arrived there around 9.20 to find already a big queue. Could only get a place for 11:30, so I strongly recommend to get there early. That being said, the cave is gorgeous and I totally understand.....  more »
  • This is an impressive natural tunnel long enough to require a mining train to transport visitors. Some pictures are engravings, not charcoal -, ochre -, and similar drawings like those in better known caves, and there are line drawings. It has been claimed there are Elasmotherium images in the cave, however no Elasmotherium fossils younger than 49000 years ( 49 ky, the limit of 14C-radiocarbon dating) have been found to date. Perhaps unicorn myths originate with the Neandertals or Denisovans? They have to watch closely over this amazing piece of mankindĀ“s heritage which had survived many millennia. Perhaps a careful briefing of the visitors is called for before entering the cave (even if this seems schoolmasterly to most people).
