Built on a rocky edge at the beginning of the 12th century, La Tour Cesar protects the former Earl’s Palace and dominates the valley. The building itself gives you a glimpse of the everyday life at the tower eight centuries ago, and the view from the top offers an enchanting landscape view. Be warned that climbing the stairs is no short task, and the passageway can become quite narrow.
In addition, La Tour Cesar is a strong symbol of power for the Earls of Champagne. The keep’s highly complex layout gives it a unique and colossal appearance, making it one of the most original stately dwellings of its time. It used to be a watchtower, a prison, a bell tower, and a place of military retreat. Start your trip to Provins by creating a personalized itinerary on Inspirock.

It's well worth the effort to climb the stairs. The explanations are clear and the price remains reasonable.

Don't miss: the small audiovisual presentation at the end of the tour, in the lower room.
Lots of climbing, but lots of rooms to explore in this mediaeval tower. Surprisingly, it is accessible to the public from ground level all the way into the bell tower. Just a warning: some of the staircases are quite narrow, slippery, and steep.
This is the remains of a castle. Really the external walls, towers and walkways. The rooms in the towers can be visited. The towers are quite tall and many steps need to be climbed. It is with a visit and lunch in the local bar/restaurant is great value; be quick they stop serving at 14:00.
