For history and adventure rolled into one, explore Musee des Egouts to follow the path from Lutèce to present times. This underground attraction is a fun way to discover Paris. Wander the raised walkways directly above the sewage lines. Look for the exhibit showing the history of Paris' water cycle, along with models and machines used in the past and present. Temperatures can get much cooler underground, so consider bringing a light jacket. You can find the entrance near the Pont de l'Alma. Before you head to Paris, plan trip itinerary details with our user-friendly Paris tour itinerary planning website, to make sure you see all that Paris has to offer, including Musee des Egouts.

How often do you get to walk around in a running sewer? This place is a cheap and interesting way to spend 30 min in the city. It's a self-guided tour through an actual sewer. I have to admit it was smellier than I was expecting, but I don't regret going at least once!
Actually really fun, if a little bit smelly. Genuinely quote educational about the history of sewer systems and hygiene in cities from ancient history to today, and lots of specific information about Paris. If you're coming with kids I'd consider whether they're likely to love the concept of a smelly sewer or hide in a corner and ask to leave. I saw both types down there!
