Now a beautiful attraction in Paris, Marie De Medicis Fountain was originally created in the 17th century at the Luxembourg gardens for Maria de' Medici, Queen of France. You can visit this site and admire the romantic fountain in a peaceful atmosphere. The grotto fountain is adorned with columns and completely covered with reliefs that simulate water seeping from rock walls.

The fountain is also decorated with allegorical statues, which were added much later. The first statue, Venus in the center niche, is now replaced by the mythological figures of the lovers Acis and Galatea in white Carrara marble. The jealous Cyclops statue, Polyphemus, observes the couple from a ledge. Brush up on your mythology before you arrive to really enjoy these artistic stories. • The Medici Fountain, located in the Luxembourg Gardens, has been built around the year 1630 at the request of Queen Marie de Medici, who was the initiator of the palace and the gardens surrounding it....  more »
  • This fountain is located in Luxembourg Park. There is only a fountain built by that Medici family, so it is gorgeous, but it is not very noticeable because it is in the park.

  • The Fountain was built around 1630 by Marie de'Medici the widow of King Henry IV of France and regent of King Louis XIII of France. It was moved to its present location and extensively rebuilt in 1864. Absolute recommendation to go see this. Absolutely gorgeous. Pick a bench on the side of the fountain and relax.
