Separating the Louvre from Place de la Concorde, Jardin des Tuileries are semi-formal French gardens that have survived centuries. Catherine de Medici created them in 1564, and they were revamped 100 years later. The gardens serve as a cultural walking space, where Maillol statues complement those by Rodin and Giacometti. To relax, go towards one of the benches at either of the two ponds, where people drive model boats on the water. For a quick snack, stop at one of the cafes, ice cream shops, or crépe stalls surrounding the space. The low cut of the impeccably manicured hedges around the statues allow you to photograph each one in full sunlight. Jardin des Tuileries reviews
What is it with Paris? Are there no tourist police? This place as well, we were harassed. Paris authorities should do something. Mainly, non French are the ones giving French capital a bad name. more »
Lovely to walk around whilst waiting to go into the Lourve. Had a violinist playing under the Arch - very talented more »
Always superb and wonderful time here. The vast and professionally maintained landscape, intricate architecture of buildings around, the sweet fountain and the mostly responsible visitors made Tuileries Garden a must visit whenever in Paris. I admired how there was no trash in sight and how clean everything was. The air was wonderful during our visit there and the sun was out for a little while, providing nice respite from days of rain. From one end you'd reach The Louvres and the other, the obelisks. St. Honore is also just a few minutes walk from the garden.
Very lovely garden right outside the Louvre. The garden is giant and features many intricate statues placed throughout the area. It's an absolutely lovely and peaceful place to walk around or even go for a quick run if you'd like. I would definitely suggest spending some time in the garden and not just speeding off somewhere else immediately.
