Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nice, Nice

#9 of 32 in Museums in Nice
View the work of some of Europe's lesser-known artists at Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nice. The museum is often called Jules Cheret because of its large collection by this painter and poster artist. The museum was built inside an unfinished building from 1821. Prince Lev Viktorovich Kotchoubeï started but never completed the structure. In 1925, the city if Nice bought it to house this fine arts museum, which was made possible largely in part to donations from several French royal families. • If you want to visit a museum you can go better to the Momac. The collection there is more impressive and the staff (ladies at the reception) are much friendlier. This museum is OK, but is not so maintained and has few important works. 10 Euros is then much... Besides, customer friendliness is something one can teach...

  • A motley collection, a catch-all, confused. The architecture of the museum is beautiful but unfortunately the building is dilapidated. Museum not air-conditioned at 10 euros admission. To avoid

  • It supposed to have handicap access in the bottom floor. The guard lets you in from a back door. On the way to the door (which by the way does not have a ramp) there are tree roots that completely lifted the pavement. You literally have to carry up ghe wheelchair to pass. The temporary exhibits where great but on the second floor which is not accesible at all with a wheelchair. The two ladies at the counter were very rude. They made a mistake with the charges and wanted to blame me for it. The guard on the other hand was very cordial and very helpful. He even help me lift my dad's wheelchair over the step to be able to enter and exit the museum as well as over the roots on the pavement. It is amazing that such place does not have handicap access. It the tour guides it says it does to the bottom floor but it is not the case. My dad is very light. If he were a little heavier it would have been impossible to enter the museum.
  • Beautiful museum with Rich art from over 300 years ago and later. But also fits in a lovely venue from the time as well. For any museum lovers in Nice, this is a must and could be enjoyed multiple times.
