Church · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
The present Chapelle Saint-Michel was the result of two periods of work (tenth and twelfth centuries).Chapelle Saint-Michel has one of the largest carved facade. It has been described as "a kind of architectural gem" by Mérimée. The work done in the twelfth century in Chapelle Saint-Michel in addition to expansion of the monument, added to the establishment of a large carved decoration. You will find this on the capitals inside the chapel, and on the facade once considered a true "hieroglyph". Carved in the Arkose Blavozy it is decorated with marble inlay, red brick and "Lace" black-blue stone.
