An impressive collection of 50,000 objects at Musee de la Grande Guerre tells the story of the World War I, as well as its impact on society as a whole. Everyday objects, like first aid kits and stoves from the private collection of World War I expert Jean-Pierre Verne tell the story of past hardship. Innovative technology allows you to immerse all of your senses into the first World War with visual frescoes, hands-on objects, olfactory presentations, and ambient sounds. Whether you're most interested in tactics and strategy, daily life in the trenches, women's role in the war, or some other facet, you'll likely find a theme-based exhibit to explore. A visit to Musee de la Grande Guerre represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Meaux trip itinerary app to plot your vacation.

For those travelling by public transport (from the Eastern station), the museum is quite far from the meaux station.

I really liked the idea of presenting explanations in the form of a book... which can then be purchased at the shop in small format. Children's playbook that has occupied my two daughters very well; the small "family" space to dress up is also a good idea. It takes I think well over two hours to appreciate and assimilate everything that is presented on the other hand! In summary, an excellent museum on the First World War in my opinion too little known and worth discovering and visiting.
One of the newest museums dedicated to the memory of those who fought in WW1. A new and fresh presentation.
A fascinating place. A beautiful building, giving a great insight into the First World war in the Marne. And also a great way of seeing the war from the French perspective.
