Chateaux de Lastours are four related castles on a rocky spur overlooking a village and surrounding valleys and rivers. The French Ministry of Culture listed this as a historic monument, and archaeological digs are still being conducted here. Cabaret castle is the primary citadel of the group. You can view a polygonal keep, a tower, ramparts with a round walk, and a crenellated wall constructed with irregular material. Tour Régine is the smallest of the fortresses, and you'll notice that its curtain wall has collapsed. This three-story tower flanked by a spiral staircase was built primarily with white limestone. Surdespine is the least-preserved of the four castles. It features a square tower, rectangular curtain wall, semicircular arched windows, and defensive "murder holes." The Quertinheux Castle has a circular tower and a polygonal curtain wall. Use our Lastours trip maker to add Chateaux de Lastours and other attractions to your Lastours vacation plans.

more »There are many Catalysis castle ruins around Carcassonne, but it is inconvenient if there are no cars in the suburbs. This time, i was incorporated into the tour sightseeing with Minerbu village. From the observatory, you can see four old citadels. The crusade and Catalan battle that actually existed 700 years ago. I was able to catch a glimpse of the dark pages of history that are not talked about.
It's quite a walk up and the only way to get to them is through the old textile factory, paying 7€/person. Definitely worth it though. Gorgeous views and four castles' remains on the hills.
Lovely ruins to visit. I did all 4 castles and followed the new path back. Beautiful sights. 2 hour trip with a lot of uneven steps. Not very hard but not suited for small kids or people who can't endure a bit of physical activity. Worth the effort. Bring your own drink and snacks.
