Gorges du Pont du Diable, La Vernaz

#18 of 54 in Nature in Haute-Savoie
Geologic Formation · Nature / Park
See the gripping beauty that erosion can create at Gorges du Pont du Diable. The jagged crags shift in color and savagery as you navigate the hiking trails. The Devil’s Bridge, or Pont du Diable, is a bridge built by Benedictine monks to transport goods and knowledge between two abbeys in the first half of the 11th century. It is one of three bridges in the gorge with the same name. The bridge is no longer open to traffic, but you'll get a good view of it from a newer bridge built nearby.
