One of the world's largest and most prominent of champagne producers, Moet et Chandon was established in 1743 by Claude Moët. Dom Pérignon, acquired in 1930 from Mercier Champagne, is vintage champagne that is only made in the best year of harvested grapes with 60 percent Chardonnay and 40 percent Pinot Noir grapes.
Today this vineyard and winery owns more than 1,000 hectares (2,500 acres) of land and annually produces approximately 26,000,000 bottles of champagne. This winery is owned under the label Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) and holds a Royal Warrant to supply champagne to Queen Elizabeth II.
You can tour Moët & Chandon’s historic buildings and subterranean labyrinth of cellars, the largest in the Champagne region, spanning 28 km (17.4 mi). Advanced bookings for the tour are necessary and include either one flute tasting of champagne or two with the upgraded tour. Moet et Chandon reviews
As you might expect with Moet et Chandon, just class, class and more class...the building is superb, the setting on Avenue de Champagne is wonderful and it costs nothing to just drop in! more »
What a wonderful place this is! An inviting entrance with fabulous displays, which then leads into an outstanding showroom. Everything you want to know about the origin of Moët and Chandon, and... more »
Great big house with lots of marketing power. They make interesting drinks. It had a rich heritage and the history is amazing. It was napoleons favourite house. It is not my personal favourite flavour. However if you drink enough it can really do magic. It will even turn ugly people into pretty princess and princesses! 😂however if you wake up the next morning they will turn back into the ugly frog and you will have a slight hangover. If you are visiting champagne you have to visit this house as it is the biggest most power-full house. Their caves are the largest and maybe the most beautiful. They make great quality drinks. However I can find champagnes I like better for a more reasonable price. But that is just a personal taste isn’t it?
The gold standard. So much history you don’t think about when you buy a bottle of Moët. You get to learn about the process it takes to make it as well as walk through the cellars that are underground. After you get to have a glass or two of this delicious champagne. Very cool experience!
