Plage de Chatelaillon was once home to the fortress Castrym, the capital of Aunis. Before the castle was destroyed in the 16th century, it was seized by William X, then the Duke of Aquitaine. All that's left of the castle now is a small hamlet in the swamp.   • just a beautiful beach . we got there nice and early so we got a good spot . lots of lovely bars and restaurants on the main road and even a lovely shack to sit and have a drink to cool down on the beach. very clean and just stunning. definatly be going back again
