Follow well-carved walking paths over rugged terrain to get to the ruined, 17th century Genoese tower of Torra d'Omigna. Sitting on a rocky cliff overlooking the sea, the tower was built in 1605 as part of a series of defenses built by the Republic of Genoa to protect the island of Corsica against Barbary pirates. The tower was declared a national monument in 1991 and was restored in 2009 so that visitors could once again climb to the rooftop terrace and take in the panoramic views. It's an easy coastal hike to the tower, but the trek requires adequate walking shoes, and you'll want to take plenty of water. Torra d'Omigna is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Cargese Edition.
