Broceliande, Brittany

#25 of 60 in Nature in Brittany
Forest · Nature / Park
Visit the legendary Broceliande that has ties with Arthurian Romance, most notably a magical fountain and the tomb of the legendary figure Merlin. The forest first appears in 1160 literature--such as the "Roman de Rou," a verse chronicle written by Wace--and is legendary because of its uncertain location and unusual weather. Walk a few steps from the tomb to visit the Fountain of Youth, and then go to the Valley of No Return to view the Fairies' Mirror and The Golden Tree.
