We were not at all disappointed with our walk. Located on top of a vertiginous cliff more than 150 metres from the Dordogne Valley, declared a historic monument in 1944, this majestic castle is very well preserved and still today people take care of maintaining and renovating it. It was here that the Visitors and Joan of Arc and many other famous films were shot. Square dungeon that dominates the entire valley. Grand rooms, a weapons room and a very large kitchen. This is where King Richard Heart- de - Lion stayed. Place to visit for the pleasure of the eyes. A must see.

One of the most interesting "fighting" castles ever. Not only does it have the greatest of views 360° over the hilly Périgord, but its sheer presence tells a tale of ruthless resistance throughout its 900 yr history. Get a guide to explain the finer points of its defense mechanisms.
