The US Troops (Doughboys) fought alongside the Australians (5th Div) and British as they all broke the Hindenburg Line in one of the last major actions of that sad war ! The Canal was a German strong.... more »

This is another very well done Monument to the losses of American soldiers during World War 1. Rather expensive in the size alone gives away the true loss of life in this area. Fortunately when I went there was no crowds and we mostly had it to ourselves

Bellicourt American Monument is located near Bellicourt, France and it honors the memory of the men 27th and 30th Divisions who broke the Hindenburg Line alongside the British and Commonwealth in September of 1918. There is a helpful map at the monument which helps explain what happened there and in the surrounding countryside.
