Must see · Specialty Museum · Museum
Located in front of the actual vestiges of the Mulberries, Musee du debarquement devotes its exhibits to the incredible feat of technology the British achieved in building the artificial harbor at this site. Watch the period newsreel in English and French. Impressive, dynamic scale models show how the floating docks rolled with the waves and tides. A 75-foot section of Mulberry floating bridge is on display outside. Military equipment is also on view, including an American half-track armored vehicle and a Higgins boat. • Fascinating and beautifully done. There were also slide shows and a movie about the Landings. It made clear how innovative and resourceful the designing engineers were and how their Port Winston harbour changed the outcome of the war. It shows what can happen when a group of talented people are told what an objective is, and instructed to find a solution to the problems. This is not one to be missed.
  • Nice model and a short film. But all in all very limited. Some random items here and there without much context or explanation. For a more enjoyable experience at a lot lower cost I would advise you to go to "Liberators Museum Normandy 1944"
