Musee de Picardie is one of the largest regional museums in France with collections stretching from prehistory up to the 19th century. Built between 1855 and 1867, the museum houses collections from ancient Greece and Egypt, Gothic art from Amiens Cathedral, Pierre Puvis de Chavannes symbolic frescoes "Peace and War" and "Work and Rest," and 17th to 20th century fine arts including works by Francis Bacon and "The Swan" by Jules Roulleau.   • We tried to visit the museum in April 2019 and it's still completely closed. Evidently (according to other reviews here) it has been in some state of restoration since 2016!  more »
  • Still closed. Now expected to reopen some time in 2019. The former Musee de l'art local (in the house of the duc de Berry) is also closed (in 2018), seemingly permanently  more »
  • Shut when we got there due to refurbishment.
