Former home of a famed English Egyptologist, Howard Carter House is mud-brick domed structure turned into a museum with photographs of excavations and the original surveying tools. See the office--with the original desk--and the laboratory where the archeologist and his wealthy employer Lord Carnarvon spent many years looking for "the boy king." The surrounding garden features a detailed replica of the burial chamber with the pharaoh's sarcophagus. Great facimile of the tomb of Tutankhamun at Carter's house, which is also an interesting place in it's own right.

The house is ok. It's nice to have a glimpse at the past and imagine what it was like to be living here (as a European) in the early 1900. There a re a few household items and appliances which are cool too. I was surprised by the fact that there is people living at this house or at least using the beds (😬). As usual there will be people offering information, a drink or some advice. It's not for free. They will ask for a tip shortly after. Even in those places where entrance is forbidden or pictures are not allowed they will let you do anything for a tip. On the back of the house you will find Tutankhamun's burial site. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. ITS FAKE. Even though this museum was recommended by Lonely Planet I believe there are better options available. Don't feel bad if you skip it.
