Temple of Kom Ombo, Kom Ombo

Noted for its perfect symmetry, Temple of Kom Ombo nestles on a jutting headland overlooking the Nile. Commissioned by Ptolemy VI in the 1st century BCE, the structure was later expanded by other rulers, then largely fell into decay before French archaeologists restored it in the late 19th century. Inspect the detailed friezes and hieroglyphs on the walls of the temple, dedicated to gods Horus and Sobek, or view the hundreds of preserved crocodile mummies displayed at the onsite museum. • Well worth the effort to visit, a very different temple built for 2 gods (Sobek & Horus) with additions added during the Roman period, its walls have inscriptions for calendars, methods of labour in ancient Egypt (like the labour chair) & pictures for the first surgical tools used by ancient Egyptians for providing anesthesia and performing surgeries in this ancient times. Don't forget to visit the near crocodile mummification Museum.
  • It’s a nice place although it looks incomplete temple but still it’s nice place to visit.
