La Loberia, Salinas

#2 of 22 in Parks in Santa Elena Province
Meet the sea lions of La Loberia, a small beach where you can observe these animals in their natural habitat. The rocky beach marks the furthest northern point the South American sea lions venture. The colony is known as the "Loberia", meaning "sea wolves" in Spanish. Enjoy the scenic ocean view, watch the sea lions lounging on the rocks or swimming, and, in season, look out for a colony of humpback whales. A visit to La Loberia represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Salinas trip itinerary planner to plot your vacation.

  • The views here were amazing. From the observation pier, you can see sea lions lying on a rock not far from shore. The rocks and surf are stunning. Few to no swimmers. Very natural and unspoiled.  more »
  • It's really nice. Be aware of the smell but if you're not sensible to that it's amazing
  • Awesome seal lions. Good place to visit. Don't go off the path though...sneaky undercover gaurds will yell at you.
